I have always been fascinated with the natural world and photography. Fifteen years ago, on my honeymoon, my wife and I tried snorkeling for the first time. The waters surrounding Kauai opened up a whole new world to explore. Naturally, I wanted to capture some images of our adventure.
On our next trip to the tropics, I tried using the disposable underwater cameras and had some success; but those didn’t work all of the time leaving me with few keepers. Snorkeling couldn’t satiate our love for the water, and we took up scuba diving. Eventually, I purchased a true underwater camera that I could take along on my new hobby.
I met another photographer, Steve Simonsen, on a dive in St. John. I took some underwater photography classes from him to take my photography to a higher level. I just didn't realize how much I would learn in such a short time. Those sessions became the inspiration to see how far I can take my skills and perspective.
It was my love for the ocean and a desire to share my experiences that has brought me to where I am today. I hope that these images inspire you to try something new and most of all, change your own perspective.
